The Rio Police have been born anew over last six months. Under the capable leadership of Captain Tonaverron, the Police have shed their earlier reputation as an inert and corrupt force. Now, they patrol the streets aggressively, use the latest law-enforcement techniques, and, most importantly, demand and maintain a level of respect from the average Rio citizen. In short, they have a sterling reputation, the first serious blow to which was the protest that turned deadly.
The combat potential of the Rio Police is strong. The standard patrol officer, or Cop, is armed with an automatic pistol and has received reasonable training in its use. The more experienced officers are promoted to Detective, and trained in the use of military assault weapons, which are intended primarily to intimidate the populace but add significant deterring power.
With sufficient warning, however, the Rio Police can call upon a deadly combatant. A Sniper is not useful in all situations, especially quick-moving tactical environments. But when a Sniper is given the opportunity to line up a shot, the results are usually final.
